Sources said the post has been reserved for Backward Caste while the deputy mayor will be from the General category. The term of Mayor BNManjunath Reddy ends on August 11.
Due to the delay in notification, Reddy will continue as mayor till a new one is elected. It is learnt that a race has begun among Congress corporators to hold the post, though the JD(S), the Congress ally in BBMP, has not revealed its plan. The sources said JD(S) has sought the Mayoral post this time.
